Three of a family missing after Sylhet landslide

Three members of the same family went missing after a hillock collapsed in the Chamelibagh area of ​​Sylhet city.

The incident happened around 6:30am on Monday.

Fire service and cleaning staff of Sylhet City Corporation are conducting rescue operations after receiving the information.

Besides, the army has been deployed to conduct rescue operations, according to an ISPR press release.

In this incident, three injured people were rescued and admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Jahangir Alam, councilor of Ward No. 35 of Sylhet City Corporation, said: “Four out of seven people in the same family were rescued alive, while three are still buried. Those trapped beneath the rubble are Karim Uddin, 30, his wife Sammi Ruji Begum, 25, and Tanim, 2.”

Shahparan police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Harunur Rashid Chowdhury added that heavy rainfall caused the hillock to collapse onto a partially built house, trapping three people underneath.

Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury also visited the spot.
