HSC candidate dies as scarf gets tangled in auto-rickshaw wheel

An HSC examinee died after her scarf got entangled in the wheels of a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in Patuakhali Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred at around 11:30am on Wednesday in the Model Mosque area of Patuakhali.

Deceased Adhara Chowdhury Mohona, 18, was the eldest daughter of Md. Rasel Munshi from the Shimulbag area of Patuakhali municipality. She was set to appear for the HSC examinations starting at June 30. She was a student of Humanity group at Patuakhali Government Mohila College.

Citing witnesses, Patuakhali Police Station officer-in-charge Md Jasim said Mohona was on her way to a restaurant in Chawrasta area in the town for lunch after her coaching class. During her travel in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw, her scarf got entangled in its wheel, leading to a severe neck injury.

She was rescued and taken Patuakhali Sadar Hospital in critical condition where the attending doctors declared her dead.

The body was handed over to the family members as no complaint was filed in this regard, added the OC.
