BNP announces 3-day programme for Khaleda Zia’s release

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a three-day protest programme demanding release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme while addressing a press conference at Nayapaltan party office on Wednesday.

He said, “For unconditional release of Begum Khaleda Zia, we will hold a protest rally at Nayapaltan on June 29 at 3pm. The same rally will be held at all metropolitans on July 1 and at all cities on July 3.”

BNP standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were also present during the briefing.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul said the condition of Khaleda Zia was ‘stable’ since the installation of a pacemaker in her heart.

A pacemaker was implemented in the chest of Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Later, she was shifted to a cabin with CCU (coronary care unit) facilities.
