Govt vows to strengthen, modernise BAF: CA

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), vowing continued support to enhance its capabilities in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and independence.

Addressing a military exercise at BAF Base Bir Uttam AK Khandker, Prof Yunus highlighted the importance of patriotism and professionalism in building a secure and progressive Bangladesh.

He called on Air Force personnel to focus on acquiring modern skills and strengthening technical expertise to stay ahead in an increasingly complex global defence landscape.

“With united efforts, we will build a safe, developed and strong Bangladesh, Insha Allah,” he said.

The Chief Adviser announced the government’s plan to further strengthen Air Force by adding advanced fighter jets, transport helicopters and cutting-edge radar systems to its arsenal.

He underscored the critical role of continuous training and technological adaptation in maintaining operational readiness.

“BAF personnel are consistently upgrading their knowledge and participating in multi-dimensional training programmes to keep pace with global advancements,” Yunus said, praising the professionalism displayed during the day’s exercise.

He described the drill not just as a demonstration of skills but as a testament to Air Force’s preparedness and commitment to protecting national sovereignty.

Commending the dedication and discipline of BAF members, Prof Yunus expressed confidence in their ability to meet any challenge amid shifting geopolitical dynamics.

He also noted Air Force’s growing role in maritime security and air defence, calling it a product of visionary leadership and strategic planning.

The Chief Adviser acknowledged Air Force’s contributions to securing the country’s airports and praised their continued service.

He also paid tribute to the force’s historic role in the Liberation War and solemnly remembered the martyrs of the July uprising.

Upon arrival at the air base, Prof Yunus was received by Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan. A ceremonial state salute was accorded by a BAF contingent.
