CA Yunus shares Bangladesh’s taste with mango gifts to South Asian leaders

The Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has launched a unique diplomatic outreach, sending crates of premium Bangladeshi mangoes to top leaders across South Asia.

The seasonal gesture is aimed at strengthening regional goodwill and fostering closer ties.

According to officials, the gifts are en route to an array of high-level recipients, including India’s President and Prime Minister, the King and Prime Minister of Bhutan, the President, Vice President and Prime Minister of Nepal, Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister, and the President of the Maldives. Deliveries are being coordinated with available flight schedules and are expected to reach their destinations over the coming days.

In tandem, Bangladesh’s Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain is dispatching similar mango consignments to the Foreign Ministers of these nations, along with several Chief Ministers from Indian states, underscoring a broader effort to engage on multiple diplomatic fronts.

One notable shipment—a 1,000-kilogram consignment of the prized Bangladeshi mango variety ‘Haribhanga’—arrived in New Delhi on Monday, destined for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These mangoes will also be distributed among senior officials at the Indian Prime Minister’s Office, diplomats, and other distinguished guests in the days ahead.

Officials describe the initiative as more than just a seasonal gift, framing it as a flavorful symbol of Bangladesh’s commitment to nurturing warm ties with its neighbors.
