The tragic crash of an Air Force training aircraft in Uttara has claimed the lives of 27 people, 25 of whom were children. The incident has also left 78 others injured, several of them critically.
The information was confirmed by Dr. Sayedur Rahman, Chief Advisor of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, during a press conference held on Tuesday morning (July 22).
According to Dr. Rahman, 20 bodies have so far been handed over to their families, and medical treatment for the injured is ongoing. “Some patients remain in critical condition,” he said.
He added, “Many of the victims are children under the age of 12. A large portion of their bodies suffered severe burns, and we are making every possible effort to keep them alive.”
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate reported the incident late Monday night (July 21), confirming that the crash resulted in numerous casualties in the Uttara area.
Following the accident, large crowds gathered at the burn institute, prompting the army to impose stricter security measures and entry control at the facility starting today.
