The law enforcement agencies have issued a ‘special alert’ nationwide for 11 days from July 29 to August 8 to thwart any untoward incident feared to be committed by the Awami League and its associate bodies, according to a confidential report by the Special Branch (SB) of police.
The SB fears that an attempt may be made to create anarchy in the country during this period through organised online and offline campaigns.
Though the political activities of the Awami League are banned, its leaders and activists are active in disguise at home and abroad.
The SB has already sent a letter to all units of the police in this regard.
During this 11-day, AL leaders and activists may attempt to destabilise law and order through propaganda, incitement to violence or attacks on government and private establishments both online and offline.
