Smuggled Indian goods seized in Sylhet; 2 held

Two individuals were arrested with huge quantities of Indian smuggled goods from Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet district on Saturday morning.

The arrested are Zahed Ahmed, 24 and Hasan Imran, 20; both are residents of Satpari village in Kanaighat upazila of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, police searched a stone-laden truck on the Kaskatkha-Lalpur Bridge in the area and arrested them with smuggled Indian goods.

Police seized a huge amount of smuggled Indian goods worth Tk 2.5 crore from their possessions.

Beanibazar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ashraf Uzzaman confirmed the incident.
