The official Facebook page of Islami Bank Bangladesh was compromised early Friday, with hackers posting a threatening message and altering the page’s profile and cover photos.
The group behind the cyberattack, identifying itself as ‘Team MS 47OX’, claimed responsibility in a post published at 5:42 AM.
In the message, the group warned that it was monitoring the bank’s activities and hinted at possible future attacks on the bank’s website and social media platforms.
Although name of the Facebook page remained unchanged, the profile and cover images were replaced with visuals associated with the hacking group.
Some users also reported encountering unusual content posted around the time of the incident.
Nazrul Islam, head of public relations at Islami Bank, confirmed the breach and stated that the bank’s IT team is actively working to regain full control of the page.
The bank has yet to confirm whether any other systems were affected, though the incident raises concerns over the security of digital platforms operated by financial institutions.
