
Metro rail services have resumed on the Uttara–Agargaon–Uttara section after being suspended for nearly two and a half hours.
Train operations between Agargaon and Motijheel, however, remain suspended.
A source responsible for MRT Line-6 confirmed to Dhaka Post on Sunday at around 3:00 PM that the service between Uttara and Motijheel had been halted since 12:30 PM following an incident in which a bearing pad fell from a pillar.
To facilitate commuters, trains on the Uttara–Agargaon–Uttara route resumed service at 2:58 p.m. Meanwhile, work is ongoing to resume operations on the Agargaon–Motijheel section.
The accident occurred near Farmgate, when a bearing pad fell from a metro rail pillar, killing a young man named Abul Kalam, a resident of Isharpati village in Naria upazila, Shariatpur. Following the incident, metro rail services were temporarily suspended.
