Tarique Rahman to leave London this evening, BNP ready for grand reception

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to leave London on Wednesday (December 24) evening to return to country after over 17 years in exile.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-202, carrying him, his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman and daughter Zaima Rahman, will leave London’s Heathrow Airport at 6:15PM local time on Wednesday (12:15AM Bangladesh time).

Tarique Rahman is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at about 11:55AM on Thursday (December 25) if all goes according to plan.

Meanwhile, the BNP has made extensive preparations to accord Tarique a grand reception upon his arrival.The leaders are aiming to turn his return into a historic event of public participation, with a target of drawing close to five million people.

From the airport, Tarique Rahman will go directly to Purbachal. BNP is preparing to give him a memorable reception there.

Extensive security measures have been taken surrounding Purbachal.
