Mobile traders clash with police, Karwan Bazar turns into battlefield

Several clashes between police and mobile traders turned Karwan Bazar into a battle field.

The situation gradually became violent centering the program that began in the morning in that area with several demands, including protesting the implementation of the NEIR.

When police tried to disperse the protesting mobile traders using baton, they started throwing brick bats, forcing the police personnel to lob teargas shells and use sound grenades and water cannons.

Presence of additional number of Army and RAB, alongside police, were found there.

It was learnt that, the Mobile Business Community Bangladesh (MBCB) announced sit-in protesting implementation of the National Equipment Identity Register (NEIR) and to demand the release of traders arrested in connection with the BTRC building attack.
