Special cabinet meeting begins to approve proposed budget

A special meeting of the Cabinet has begun to approve the proposed national budget for FY2026-27.

The meeting began at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (National Parliament Building) at 10:00am.

Earlier, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury arrived at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday (11 June) morning to present the national budget for the FY2026–27.

Speaking after arriving at the Parliament complex, the finance minister said the government had prepared the budget with the aim of providing relief and economic support to all citizens despite limited resources.

“The budget has been formulated with the goal of ensuring comfort for people across the country within the constraints of available resources,” he said.
