Local Volunteers and Asian Stars Back Blood Cancer Gala

A fun packed gala to raise awareness of blood stem cell donations, and funds  for blood cancer charity DKMS will take place in Birmingham on Saturday 22nd September.

The dinner commences at 6pm and runs  until midnight, with Anila Dhami and Harjap Bhangal, who said: ʺI am happy to be taking part in this event and hope it raises awareness and fundsʺ. Award-winning Journalist & Presenter Anila said: ʺI am honoured to be hosting an event with such a worthy cause. It is so important to make as many people as possible aware of the lack of blood stem donors, particularly within the Asian community. I hope this event will encourage more people to register with DKMS and help us to delete blood cancerʺ.

The event is being organised by a group of volunteers from the Midlands, and it promises to be a fun night with music to suit all ages, including Bhangra stars Bhangra stars from the 80’s and 90’s such as Sardara Gill, Shin DCS, Mangal Singh, Amarjit Sidhu and Balwindr Safri will be performing, as well as Team PBN.

The DKMS Midlands Hub, comprising of Harkamal, Jas, Kam and Robbie have organised the event after personally witnessing a close friend affected by blood cancer. Speaking ahead of the event and why they believe it is important, Harkamal said: ʺWe hope the event will encourage people to sign up to be a potential blood stem cell donor and of course raise money to continue the fantastic work being done by DKMS. For many people in need of a blood stem cell donor their only choice is looking outside of their family.
