Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary celebrated

2The 95th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed across the country yesterday with due respect. The nation also observed the day as the National Children’s Day. In Bhola, district administration chalked out two days programme, including rally, discussion, recitation and easy competition. Hundreds of people from all walks of life took part in the programme. Deputy Commissioner Selim Reza presided over a discussion in the town hall. In Thakurgaon, the day was observed with several programmes organised by district administration and Zila Shishu Academy. A colorful rally was brought out from DC office premises that marched the the town streets and ended at Silpakala Academy. Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Chandra Biswas attends the programme as chief guest. Later, a prize giving ceremony was held.In Mymensingh, the day was observed in a befitting manner with various programmes at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU). A rally led by the Vice-Chancellor of BAU Rafiqul Haque was held on the campus. They placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.  A cultural programme was arranged at the ‘Bokul Tola’ premises of the university. Special prayer was also offered in different mosques of the resident halls.In Narail, district administration and activists of Awami League chalked out a day-long programme to mark the day. A discussion was held at Shilpakala Academy premises with DC Abdul Gaffar Khan in the chair. District Shilpakala Academy arranged drawing and recitation competition and cultural function. Different schools and colleges of the district town arranged programmes. In Sherpur, district administration took a series of programmes in observance of the day. The day started with giving floral wreats on the  portrait of Bangabandhu at the Collectorate premises in Sadar upazila. Children conference was held at 9:30am. Later, a grand rally was brought out from the main gate of the DC Office and ended at the District Shilpakala Academy premises parading the district town. In Chapainawabganj, different programmes were taken up in observance of the day. Civil Surgeon’s office arranged blood donation programme at the  Sadar Hospital. Special prayers were also held at the prayer houses of the respective religions. District Information Office arranged documentary show on Bangabandhu and Liberation War on Shaheed Satu Hall premises.In Meherpur, district administration chalked out elaborate programs to celebrate the day.  A meeting was held with DC Mahmud Hossain in the chair. The speakers upheld the life sketches of the father of the nation saying that Bangabandhu had led all the national movements and played a dominant role in all respects. A blood donation camp was also set up.In Chuadanga, political parties and different socio-cultural organisations chalked out different programmes. A rally was brought out under the auspices of district administration to mark the day. In Bogra, district administration took out a colourful procession from the deputy commissioner’s office premises. The procession was participated by different government and non-government officials. Jatiya Mahila Sangstha celebrated the day by cutting cake at Koigari office Hall in the town. Different school and colleges arranged arts, songs, recitation competition. Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela of the district unit arrange the same programme at Zila Parishad premise.     In Chandpur, floral wreaths were placed at the portraits of Bangabandhu.   A discussion was held with DC Ismail Hossain in the chair. The speakers urged all to resist evil attempts in the name of blockade and hartals.
