Mustafizur Rahman has become the first ever player from Bangladesh to be featured in the ICC ODI Team of the Year.
The ICC on Wednesday announced the Test and ODI Teams of the Year, with the qualification period running from September 18th last year till September 13th 2015. The panel included former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, ex England batsman Mark Butcher, former Australia women’s Captain Belinda Clark and Mr. G. Viswanath, Deputy Editor of The Hindu & Sportstar. The panel was chaired by the ICC Cricket Committee Chairman and former India captain Anil Kumble.
Mustafizur Rahman played 6 matches during the qualification period and he performed well enough to be included in the ICC ODI Team of the Year for his tremendous performances with the ball he put on display. He debuted on 18 June 2015 and took 18 wickets at an average of 12.61 in the 6 matches he played during the qualification period that included two 5-wicket hauls versus India. Mustafizur is also the first player in the history of the game to have taken 11 wickets in the first two One-Day International appearances.BCB
