All European Bangabandhu Porishad’s triennial meeting held

On 22 July the Triennial General Meeting and election of the All-European Bangabandhu Porishad (AEBP) was held in East London’s Microbusiness Centre. Outgoing Acting President Ahmad Hossain Joarder chaired and Joint Secretary S M Mustafizur Rahman conducted the meeting. Vice President of the UK Awami League Professor Abul Hashem was present as the chief guest and Dr Alauddin Ahmad, Cllr Parvez Ahmad, Sitab Miah Chowdhury and Advocate Shah Faruq Ahmad were special guests.

The President made opening remarks and welcomed all the people and sought cooperation for the success of the organisation. At the outset of the meeting the Religious Secretary Moulana Kutub Uddin’s recited from the holy Quran. The organisation’s General secretary Dr Faizul Islam read out the condolence resolution and presented the Annual Report. In his report he mentioned the various activities and events of the last three years.

Then the election was conducted by Prof Abul Hashem, Advocate Shah Faruk Ahmed and Cllr Parvez Ahmad. Following election Mr. Abul Hashem announced newly elected committee for the next three years comprising of 51-member executive council. Dr Faizul Islam was elected as the President, S M Mustafizur Rahman as the General Secretary and as Treasurer Afzal Hussain Siddiq Miah. The Election Commissioner Advocate Shah Faruk Ahmed conducted the oath-taking ceremony for the new committee. Election Commission said that the decision was taken by the Election Commission. Following that newly elected President Dr. Fazlul Islam thanked all. Other who addressed the event were Dr. Alauddin, Sitab Chowdhury, Meher Nigar Chowdhury and Khasruzaman Khasru. The event came to an end with dinner and performance of prominent singers.
