At present, tourism has become one of the most important industries in terms of job creation, and also for generating foreign exchange. Tourism is now expressed as an event-based movement. People with careers in tourism and hospitality management provide valuable services to travellers while potentially earning a profit, and substantial travel discounts provide them with accommodation. These functions are common, partly because education and experience can be applied to many different types of facilities and roles, making it easy to get and change jobs.
The travel, tourism, and hospitality management awareness designed to prepare students for positions or make fortune in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries or for transfer to associate programs at senior colleges.
Tourism: Travel agents represent one of the best known tourist careers and continue to play an important role in today’s online society. Travel agents book accommodation, excursions, car rentals and flights for customers and provide information on local customs and exhibitions. Travel agents also provide details of the required passports, visas and other vaccines and intervene on behalf of the customer in case of difficulties.
Travel and tourism: The best way to think about the difference between travel and tourism is that it is part of the other, but that does not mean it is the same. In short, tourism is part of the trip, but not all travel is tourism. When a person travels for tourism, he travels for leisure.
Traveller and a tourist: Travelers and tourists are both people who travel to different locations. The difference is that they have different connotations and that one is a broader term than the other. All tourists are travellers, but not all travellers are tourists. The word traveller simply means someone who travels.
Hospitality industry: The hospitality industry is a broad category of services sectors including accommodation, restaurants, events, theme parks, transportation, cruises and other fields within the tourism industry.
Understand hospitality: Hospitality is the quality or the availability of the reception and treatment of guests or foreigners in a warm, friendly and generous way. Cannot mention anyone who would be unhappy with someone who is hospitable towards him, be it a business environment or someone who goes by the road.
Tourism management: Tourism management is the oversight of all activities related to tourism and hospitality industries. It is a multidisciplinary field that prepares people with interest, experience and training for management, food, accommodation and tourism industry.
Hospitality management: Hospitality management offers diverse career opportunities. Individuals can work in or manage a resort, hotel, motel, spa or restaurant. Due to the wide range of companies that need experience in hospitality, a person does not have to live in a big city, tropical destination or other high tourist area in order to find a job. Individuals in hospitality management often seek jobs as general managers or assistant managers. Job duties may include hiring staff, setting prices, and marketing, supervising security, ensuring proper maintenance and setting schedules. Generally, managers must maintain profitability and resolve.
Makes someone hospitable: When someone feels comfortable and comfortable at home, this person is kind and provides a warm and friendly environment. Nothing hospitable is welcoming and open. Keep in mind that being hospitable means, as one person said, “Make your guests feel at home, even if you want to.
Types of hospitality industry: There are some segments of the hospitality industry: Food and beverages, Travel and Tourism, lodging, and recreation. Hospitality qualifications: National vocational qualification, other vocational qualifications, apprenticeships, higher national certificate and higher national diploma (NHC and HNCD), diploma of higher education, foundation degree, bachelor degree, graduate apprenticeship. Skills for hospitality and tourism: To be successful in the industry, people need certain qualities that employers look for and customers expect, including: Commitment, communication skills, computer know, enthusiasm, interpersonal skills, leadership, organised, knowledgeable of safety/hygiene issues, communication, teamwork, flexibility, commitment to the industry, commercial awareness.
Tourism as a career: Tourism is a diverse industry which offers long-term career opportunities for enthusiastic individuals who want to put their education and skills to work in various environments. People in tourism may work indoors or outdoors, standard hours or on a flexible schedule, seasonal jobs or all-year-round. Kind of jobs can you get with a hospitality management degree, jobs directly related to your degree include: Accommodation manager, catering manager, chef, event manager, fast food restaurant manager, hotel manager, public house manager, restaurant manager, event planner, executive chef, hotel general manager, housekeeper, porter, waiter/waitress, amusement and recreation attendant, concierge, cruise ship director, curator, gaming dealers, lifeguard, information clerk, recreation worker, hotel general manager, bellhop, meeting and convention planner, concierge, executive chef, reservation ticket agent, maids and housekeeping cleaner. Hospitality careers are for those who enjoy playing the host. Food service and lodging managers are responsible for making sure guests at restaurants and hotels have a satisfying experience with their meal or their accommodations.
Career pluses: Individuals working in travel will likely receive extensive discounts on personal travel and may even have the opportunity to travel for free if they scout locations for a company or guide a tour. Those in hospitality management may receive employee discounts or depending on the level in the company–free perks such as spa treatments or hotel rooms. Other tourism careers–such as work on a cruise ship or at a resort may provide excitement and the opportunity to experience much of the world relatively affordably.
Importance of tourism and hospitality law: By keeping customers safe, food safety laws play a key role in the hospitality industry, and knowing how to clean and store food can protect your customers and help your business avoid litigation and fines. Hospitality law is a legal and social practice relating to the treatment of guests of a person or those who sponsor a place of business. With regard to the concept of legal liability, hospitality laws aim to protect both hosts and guests from injuries, whether accidental or intentional.
Training: Training, education and private colleges programs can offer certificates or degrees in tourism with courses focusing on geography, marketing, and joint procedures for tickets, reservations and problem solving. Additional training in foreign languages, history and business enhances the individual’s ability to market. Training in tourism or hospitality is common in hospitality.
In theoretical context, tourism has been advocated as a development strategy to generate foreign exchange, to increase the balance of payment, increase GDP, attract development capital, increase the transfer of technology, increase employment and promote modern western values of life. The processes of tourism development could mainly be elucidated within the context of the development stage of a country.
To ensure the sustainability of the tourism industry, it is recommended that local people participate actively and that tourism-related activities should be encouraged through employment in tourism activities and by providing low-interest loans to individuals and private business organizations that support the implementation of pro-poor tourism development.
