Sylhet Office : The police recovered the body of Amit Das Shibu (36), the computer in-charge of Daily Uttarpurba, a local newspaper in Sylhet.
On Thursday (25th April) at around 2.30 am, his body was recovered from the field adjacent to Hazaribagh Daldali tea garden under Shahi Eidgah area under the airport police station of the city.
The deceased Amit Das Shibu is the son of deceased Gaur Chand Das of Elengjuri village of Dirai upazila of Sunamganj district. He is the father of two children. Currently, the family was living in Kanishail area of the city.
Colleagues of Amit Das said that Amit left for home at around 9:30 pm after finishing his work at daily uttorpurbo newspaper office like every day. But relatives did not reach home on time and started searching. After that, Amit’s body was recovered from the field near Hazaribag Daldali tea garden in Shahi Eidgah area at around 2.30 am.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Azbahar Ali Sheikh came to the spot after receiving the news.
He said, “We went to the spot after getting the news. His motorcycle was kept locked next to the body. His mobile phone was not found. But the last location of the mobile is showing on the spot. No injury marks were found on the body. However, the police are continuing to investigate the incident as mysterious.
Fakhrul Islam, a News editor of the Daily Uttarpurba said, ‘We are deeply saddened by the death of Amit Das. The incident is not acceptable. Request to the concerned parties including the law and order forces, that they quickly uncover the mystery of the incident through proper investigation and identify those involved in the incident and bring them under the law.
Meanwhile, on Friday (April 26) afternoon, the body was cremated at Chalibandar cremation ground.
