After the inauguration ceremony,Brigadier General Shamim Ahmadsaid,“Despite being the largest hospital in northern Bangladesh, a dedicated psychiatry ward was long overdue. Recognising the urgent need, we expedited its establishment.”

Until now, despite a growing number of patients seeking outpatient mental health services, the hospital lacked inpatient facilities for psychiatric care, resulting in many patients being admitted under the general medicine department.
