Inqilab Moncho has demanded the formation of a judicial tribunal within the next 24 hours to ensure a fair and speedy trial in the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
The demand was made at a press conference held on Monday in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh, where Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber also called for seeking assistance from international intelligence agencies if necessary.
Jaber said the murder of Osman Hadi was a critical test for post-July Bangladesh, warning that public trust in the state would be further eroded if visible and effective action was not taken.
He described Hadi as an important Dhaka-8 constituency candidate and one of the bravest voices to emerge after July, claiming he had played a significant role in the country’s apparent political stability.
He warned that failure to ensure justice would encourage the recurrence of similar crimes, alleging that attempts were being made to divert attention away from the killing.
Emphasising a strict timeline, Jaber said the state must clearly inform the public of the steps taken and announce a decision on forming a fast-track tribunal within 24 hours.
DUCSU Liberation War and Democratic Movement Secretary Fatima Tasnim Juma was also present at the briefing.
