Martyr Zia is the first President of Bangladesh and its him who called for the independence: Sussex BNP

31Bangladesh Nationalist Party Sussex Branch organised a discussion meeting and Duwa Mahfil to observe the 44th Independence and National Day on 26th March at a restaurant in Brighton.  Sussex BNP President Haji Rofique Miah presided over the meeting and Organising Secretary Bakhtiar Khan conducted it.
Guests who addressed the audience included Senior Vice-President Tofuzzol Hossain, General Secretary Golam Rabbani Sohel, Vice-President Abdul Ahad, Abdul Manik, Milik Chowdhury, Abdu Mannan Lutfur, Senior Joint Secretary Tahir Uddin Aziz, Joint Secretary Abdul Mohit Koyes, Jakaria Ahmed, Finance Secretary Badiul Alom, Publicity Secretary Jillur Rahman Ator and Office Secretary Syed Shamim Ahmed.
Other speakers were Local BNP Leader Shafiqul Alam, Millad Hossain Chowdhury, Abdul Haque, Mohammod Wahid, Fajlur Rahman, S Imranul Haque, Koysor Miah, Abdul Hannan, Alauddin, Golam Yahia, Kabir Ahmed Humayun, Nurul Islam, Badsha Miah, Shah Rahman and Abdul Noor.
The speakers said that on this day on 1971, Bangladeshi nation engaged themselves in war against occupying Pakistani forces upon the call of then Major Ziaur Rahman.  They also said that whatever heinous acts does Awami League Play, they won’t be able to hide the supreme pride and honour of Bangladesh’s first president who called upon for the independence.
The speakers urged all the BNP leaders, activist and supporters to run the current movement against the present illegal government of Sheikh Hasina until she resigns and hold a free and fair election under care-taker government.
