Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque said the community policing would reduce the gap between the cops and people.
“The activities of community policing will strengthen more in coming days. Police have become the friend of people, none is afraid of police right now,” he said while speaking at a conference of community police at Martyred SP Shamsul Haque auditorium.
Sahidul said: “We must build a bridge between people and police in a bid to combat crimes in the society and then peace would be restored.
According to BSS report he underscored the need for building mass awareness among the mass people to identify the root-cause of all criminal activities instigating terrorism and unrest in the society.
The police boss asked police personnel to know about their duties and responsibilities, and not to compromise with any sort of crimes.
He also directed police to perform their respective duties staying above all the controversy.
District Police Super (SP) Noor-e-Alam Mina presided over the conference.
Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, DIG of Sylhet Range Mizanur Rahman, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Quamrul Ahsan, Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam and Awami League Organizing Secretary Advocate Misbah Uddin Siraj, among others, attended.
