UK Gonojagoron Moncho organised a rally on 29 July following the appeal verdict of Saka Chowdhury at Altab Ali Park, East London.
At the rally pro liberation organisations, individuals, freedom fighters and members of martyred family members gathered to express their relief at the verdict. They sang, spoke and gave patriotic slogans.
War criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury will receive maximum punishment after the Supreme Court in the final verdict confirmed the death penalty of the war crimes tribunal.
The four-member appeals bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha delivered the verdict on his appeal against the maximum punishment on Wednesday.
The judgment was greeted with huge relief in Bangladesh and abroad.
The rally at Altab Ali Park was attended by members of Gonojagoron Moncho, Awami League, JASOD, Communist Party, Workers Party, Nirmul Committee, Projonmo 71, and Chatro Union amongst others.
