High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the UK, Mr Abdul Hannan said that Bangladesh government would do everything possible to promote businesses and investments between Bangladesh and Wales. He made this comment while addressing a crowd in the annual dinner and networking event of Wales-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce on Friday, the 4th of December. Mr Hannan was invited in the event as the chief guest, where he also suggested that Bangladeshi students might choose Welsh universities for a world class education. Wales is an attractive place for the Bangladeshi students to develop various skills and achieving employment-based education, he added.
The event was jointly conducted by Mahboob Noor Mabs, who is the general secretary of Walse-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Lisa Davids from the University of Wales. Vice chancellor of the University of South Wales Mr. Julie Lydon OBE, director of sector and business of Welsh government Mr. Mike McGirr, managing director of Chefonline M A Salique were among the dignitaries who addressed the event.
Chairman of Wales-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce Mr. Dilabor A Hussain said that the chamber had achieved many targets last year. He informed the audience that a business delegation from Wales chamber had visited Bangladesh and shipping minister Shajahan Khan as well as Civil Aviation & Tourism minister of Bangladesh Rashed Khan Menon had also visited Wales. A delegation from Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) would visit Wales next year, Mr Husain added. Secretary General of Wales-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce Mahboob Noor Mabs presented the yearly financial report at the event.
The gala dinner was attended among others by Andrew Davis of Wales Conservative party, Commercial Counsellor of Bangladesh High Commission Sharifa Khan, Nale Ward of Wales Football Association, Jafe Chartbert of Labour Party, producer of BBC Radio Kate Remmington, Jarid Miah of G-10, Wali Tasar Uddin of European Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce, celebrity chef Tipu Rahman and some members of parliament. Invited guests were also entertained with cultural performances by artists of Bangla Academy UK and local Welsh-Chinese artists.The successful event was co-ordinated and managed by the media director of Wales-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce Mr Afjol Khan Mithu and deputy secretary Imtiaj Hussain Jacki.
