Shri Ushatan Talukder to raise the issue of minorities

MP Ushatan Talukder said that he will discuss the minority issues and raise UK BHBCUC’s concerns with the Bangladesh government. He was speaking at a meeting held on 22nd June 2016 at 249-251 Mile End Road, East London in honour of him. He further said that he will raise the issue in the parliament of the killings of minorities and also for the full implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Treaty for the Adibashi Community.

Shri Ushatan Talukder MP for Rangamati Hill District & the President of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC) was accompanied by Mr Mangal Kumar Chakma, the Information and Public secretary of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS).

The meeting was conducted by Mr Samir Kumar Das, General Secretary, BHBCUC, Europe and chaired by Mr Dhirendra Nath Halder, President, Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, UK. Special Guest was Mr. Sujit Sen.

The discussion focused on the recent killings and stabbing of Hindu Priest Ananda Gopal Ganguly (70), Hindu monastery worker Nityaranjan Pande (62), Ripon Chakraborty, a Hindu college lecturer, the brutal stabbing of Pankaj Sarker, a Hindu devotee, a Hindu priest Sadhu Paramananda of Tungipara, Gopalgonj, the decapitation of a prominent Hindu head priest Jogeswar Roy (45) and the brutal murder of a Hindu businessman Tarun Datta (45) by Islamist Jihadi groups.  In most of the cases the killers were unidentified and beyond the reach of law enforcement agencies.

Apart from these heinous atrocities, the Jihadi and Islamist threat against Priest of Ramakrishna Mission, the security and safety of General Secretary-Advocate Rana Dasgupta of BHBCUC and the backlash of the Government to Advocate Rana Dasgupta has made the minority communities disheartened.

Among the attendees were Dr Shipra Das, General Secretary BHBCUC-UK, Mr Tarapada Sarker, Mr Sanjoy Bhowmik, Mr Sisir Kanti Das, Mr Shyamal Roy, Mr Prabin Chakma, Mr Lal Aula and Mr. Rabindra Chandra Barman.

Unity and integrity are essential to protest against the oppression and extinction of the minorities said solicitor Samir Das. He urged and appealed to Bangladesh Government to form a Minority Rights Commission, a separate Minority Ministry and to implement Vested Property Return Act of 2011 for the return of the property rights to the minorities.
