Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) have blocked the Sylhet-Sunamganj road in Sylhet protesting attacks on protesting students across Bangladesh.
After completing the scheduled program inside the campus, they blocked the road.
Meanwhile, police, CRT (Crisis Response Team) and DB police have taken an alert position on both sides of the Sylhet-Sunamganj road to avoid any untoward situation.
Students blocked the road around 5:30pm on Tuesday.
Earlier, students entered the campus by crossing the barrier at the main gate around 4pm.
During this time, the students chanted slogans against the quota system.
The students said: “We are staging the demonstration to fulfill our one-point demand. Chhatra League and police attacked our movement in various places including Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Chittagong University, and Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).
“Our movement cannot be stopped in any way until our demands are met. The attackers should be identified and punished quickly,” demanded the students.
Asadullah Al Galib, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement at Sust: “How dare the police and Chhatra League attack our peaceful movement? Students can’t be turned away from the movement by attacks and lawsuits.”
