Ekushey Padak-winning television and theater actor Engineer Jamal Uddin Hossain has passed away. He was 81.
The veteran actor breathed his last at a hospital at Calgary in Canada at about 8:00pm on Friday (local time and 8:00am Bangladesh time), according to family sources.
Jamal Uddin Hossain, a member of the Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, started acting in theater in the mid-1970s. He, later, worked in television dramas and films.
For the past 15 years, he had been irregular in acting and had been living in the United States for the past seven years. As his physical condition deteriorated, he was shifted to life support at a Calgary hospital several days ago. However, his live could not be saved despite all efforts by his son.
It is learnt that Jamal Uddin Hossain would be buried at a cemetery in Calgary city after Zohr prayer.
Jamal Uddin was associated with the renowned stage drama organisation, Nagorik Natya Sampradaya, for many years.
Both Jamal Uddin Hossain had been living with his son at Calgary. His son is a university professor there. Besides, Jamal Uddin Hossain’s wife Raushan Ara Hossain has been living with her son there.
