Police recovered a trader’s body from a residential hotel named Azad Boarding at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Fasiul Alam, 77, a resident of Sandwip upazila in Chattogram district.
According to locals, Fasiul identified himself as a trader and frequently stayed at Azad Boarding, located on Station Road in the town.
On Sunday afternoon, the hotel authorities became concerned after receiving no response from Fasiul’s room. They broke down the door and found him lying under the bed, subsequently informing the police. He had been staying at the hotel since April 9.
Upon receiving the information, police officials rushed to the scene and rescued the body.
Confirming the matter, Kulaura Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Golam Afsar said that police recovered the deceased’s body around 9 PM and sent it to Moulvibazar General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Initial suggest that Fasiul may have died due to a stroke. However, the exact cause of death will be determined upon receiving autopsy report, the OC added.
