
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal upon arriving in Sylhet on Saturday.
He reached the shrine premises around 10:30am, offered prayer, and took part in a special supplication after paying his respects. Later, the prime minister signed the visitors’ book preserved at the shrine.
He was accompanied by senior party leaders, local public representatives, and administrative officials. Despite rainfall, large crowds lined both sides of the roads to welcome him.
Earlier in the morning, Tarique Rahman left his residence in Gulshan at 8:25am and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9:00am, accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman and other members of his entourage.

According to party sources, at 11:00am he is scheduled to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony and a civic gathering for a Sylhet City Corporation project aimed at alleviating waterlogging near Chandni Ghat along the Surma River.
At 12:00 pm, he will inaugurate a river dredging programme at the Baisha River in Kashipur Union under Sylhet Sadar upazila. Later, at 3:00 pm, he is expected to attend the opening ceremony of a youth sports talent hunt programme, Sports-2026, at Sylhet District Stadium, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
He is also scheduled to join a party meeting at the District Shilpakala Academy at 5:00pm.
