Tigresses land in London for T20 WC

Bangladesh women’s team arrived in London on Friday for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after completing their tri-nation series campaign in Edinburgh, which also featured Scotland and the Netherlands.

The Tigresses ended the tournament on a high, defeating the Dutch by 13 runs in a rain-shortened match.

Opener Dilara Akter starred with the fastest half-century by a Bangladeshi in Women’s T20 Internationals, reaching the milestone in just 22 deliveries.

Nigar Sultana Joty’s side finished the series with two wins from four matches after bouncing back from defeats in their opening two games.

Hosts Scotland topped the standings with six points, while Bangladesh finished second with four.

Bangladesh will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on 14 June before facing Australia, Pakistan, India and South Africa in the group stage.
