Folk music at Chhayanaut

Marking Pohela Falgun, the first day of spring on Bengali calendar, the Department ofFolk Music of Chhayanaut Sangeet Bidyayatan arranged a folk music event on Friday. Artists Kangal Deenohin, Arkum Shah, Shamser Ali, AKM Abdul Aziz and Sirajul Islam, among others, performed at the event. Chhayanaut General Secretary Khairul Anam Shakil delivered welcome address at the programme. The musical soiree included a number of choral renditions such as ‘Nobi Mor Poroshmoni’, ‘Bondhua Aila Go’, ‘Naye Badam Tuila De Bhai’ and more. Among others, Sardar Rahmatullah, Biman Chandra Biswas, Abul Kalam Azad, Nadira Begum and Swapna Roy performed at the folk music programme. Swarup Hossain and Alakesh Adhikari on Tabla, Nazrul Islam on Dhol, Md Hasan on flute, Pradeep Kumar Roy on Mondira and Solaiman Hossain on Dotara provided instrumental support.
