Advocates of Sylhet Judge Court allegedly assaulted a Photographer and snatched his camera on Tuesday on the court premiers when he was taking photos of an agitation program organized by the Advocates.
Injured Nurul Islam, Photographer of Daily Uttarpurba, a local newspaper of Sylhet, was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital at 11:30am after the incident.
Witnesses said pro-Awami League (AL) advocates brought out a procession at 11:00am on court premises protesting against the cancelation of bail prayer of Joint Secretary of district AL Advocate Mahfujur Rahman over Copmpanyganj Juba League leader Abdul Ali murder case. They assaulted Nurul Islam and snatched his camera while he was capturing the photos of their agitation.
Later, other journalists recovered him and admitted to hospital. Following this, Journalists of national and local dailies here brought out a procession, formed a human chain and observed sit-in program protesting the attack and demanded punishment to the attackers. Tougher programs will be taken if their demands didn’t meet, they said.
Meanwhile, President of Sylhet district Bar Association AKM Shamiul Alam expressed his concern over the unwanted matter. The Photo journalists declared that they would not cover any events of the lawyers, sources said.
