Singer Adnan Babu held for seeking extortion

singer Adnan Babu was arrested by using mobile tracking system for seeking extortion from a school headmaster in Manikganj.

According to case statement filed by ACC, Adnan Babu allegedly demanded Tk. 5 lakh, disguising himself a section officer Mahbub of education ministry, from Manikganj Baradia High School headmaster Shah M Rafiqul Islam.

Adnan, who was a famous singer in 1990s, assured the headmaster that he will manage allotment for new building of the school.

Later, the headmaster informed the education secretary Nazrul Islam, who later sought help from ACC chairman M Badiuzzaman to arrest the culprit.

On April 2, the ACC arrested Adnan and his accomplice Sharifuzzaman using mobile tracking technology and sent them to jail.

ACC sources on Sunday said that the singer confessed that he along with his accomplices took extortion from other school authorities giving false hope on money allotment for the schools.
