Nadeem Qadir who has recently taken the post of Minister Press at the Bangladesh High Commission in London said he was on a mission to promote Bangladesh positively. To promote beautiful Bangladesh and in that effort he wanted the co-operation of the UK based Bengali journalists to assist him.
He was speaking at a dinner in an East London restaurant on 9 June hosted by him for the London based representatives of Bangladeshi dailies, news agencies, satellite TV channels, weeklies and members of London Bangla Press Club.
Emdadul Haq Chowdhury, Secretary of London Bangla Press club in his introductory address informed the Minister of UK based Bengali press & media. The event was conducted by Nobab Uddin, President of London Bangla Press Club.
In a informal discussion Nadeem Qadir took a number of questions from the press. In his address he said he was a proud son of a martyred freedom fighter, Lt Col Abdul Qadir. He also added that his mother late Hasna Hena Qadir was one of the founders of the campaign to seek justice for Bangladesh war victims. He said he has taken his post in London as a challenge to promote Bangladesh that was born out of a glorious liberation struggle.
Nadeem Qadir has spent most of his life working for the international media, including Agence France-Presse, Reader’s Digest magazine, TV South Asia and the Press Trust of India.
