Chief Coordinator (South Region) of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Hasnat Abdullah has stated that the party has emerged by defeating fascism from national crisis but not through corruption or political favoritism.
He made the remarks while speaking at a rally in Sylhet’s Shahid Minar premises on Friday (July 25), as part of the ‘July March to Build the Nation’ campaign.
Hasnat also urged people to strengthen the party’s support, adding, “We promise to hand over power to the people under the leadership of the NCP. Stay united; our struggle is far from over.”
Addressing the then ruling party Awami League, he criticized a faction within the party that has exploited privileges, engaged in opportunistic activism, and controlled media outlets. “We must remain vigilant against them,” he warned.
He added that while the AL can’t regain power in the same way, it will try to sow disorder. “We must stand united to resist them.”
Hasnat Abdullah also criticized those claiming to guard Mujibism who are urging people to abandon their Bengali identity. “We say clearly: extortionists and occupiers, not Bengali, are their forefathers,” he asserted.
