Highly anticipated BCB voting underway

The highly anticipated Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election has finally commenced.

The voting began at 10AM on Monday at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. The completion of the polls will reveal who is set to occupy the key decision-making seats in Bangladesh cricket for the next term.

Despite the numerous pre-election incidents, the primary focus of tension remains squarely on the Dhaka Metropolitan Club Category (Category-2) and the remaining Divisional Elections.

As per the BCB constitution, the Board of Directors comprises 25 members. Of these, 23 directors are elected by direct vote from the councillors, while the remaining two are nominated by the National Sports Council (NSC). These 25 directors then collectively elect the BCB President.

The most dramatic and contested category in the BCB election is Category-2 (Dhaka Metropolitan Clubs). This category has 76 voters who will elect 12 directors.

Two additional directors will be nominated by the National Sports Council. The newly elected directors will later elect the next BCB president at 7:30PM, shortly after official results are announced at 6PM.
