Moulvibazar tea worker receives Best Joyeeta Award

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Komoli Robi Dash, a tea worker from Kanihati in Moulvibazar, received the ‘Best Joyeeta Award’ as a successful mother.

The recognition was conferred on Friday in Dhaka during an event organized by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented Komoli with a cheque, crest, sari, and certificate.

Komoli, who had previously received honors at local levels, expressed immense joy upon receiving the national award. She shared her life’s struggles, the hardships she faced as a tea worker earning a meager daily wage.

Komoli’s son, Santosh Rabi Dash, expressed his pride and happiness for his mother’s recognition, stating that her achievements surpassed any personal joy he could experience.

Born into a tea worker’s family in Shomsher Nagar Union, Santosh faced financial difficulties from an early age. Despite the challenges, Komoli prioritized her son’s education, working tirelessly to support him. He eventually pursued studies in the Marketing Department at Dhaka University.

Her inspiring journey, documented in her son’s social media post titled “Maayer Namta Kete Dilo,” gained attention in 2022, leading to job offers from at least ten organizations. He eventually secured a job at Mutual Trust Bank’s Lal Dighee branch in Sylhet.

Komoli’s son emphasized the need for continued support in education, technological training, career counseling, and overall development for the children of tea workers.
