The low-lying areas of seven upazilas in Sunamganj were submerged due to continuous rainfall and water from upstream in the district.
When the residents were disoriented by the flood water, the prices of dry food, including candles, suddenly increased in the markets of Sunamganj within a few hours.
Several houses were destroyed, fishes, cattle, paddy and rice have been washed away. The number of such distressed families is numerous in the district.
People in the low-lying areaa of Chhatak upazila are mostly affected. Besides, the flood water have entered Bishwambarpur, Tahirpur,
Madhyanagar, Dharmapasha upazilas and municipal city of the district.
The road communication is closed due to water. The administrations have already closed the tourist spots.
Pictures of the local markets in the district are changed soon after the water entered the city.
