Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has intensified its operation to arrest two prime suspects accused of involvement in the killing of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.
The suspects; identified as Faisal, the alleged shooter, and Alamgir, who reportedly rode the motorcycle used in the attack, are still on the run.
Speaking to reporters at RAB’s media centre in Karwan Bazar on Sunday, Director General AKM Shahedur Rahman said all available resources had been mobilised to track down the fugitives.
“We have deployed our full strength to arrest Faisal and Alamgir. Both technological tools and conventional intelligence methods are being used to locate them,” he said.
The RAB chief added that authorities were prepared to pursue the suspects even if they had left the country.
“We are working to confirm Faisal’s location through technological surveillance and human intelligence. Once his whereabouts are verified, the arrest will be carried out. If a suspect has crossed the border, we will follow established procedures, including the use of extradition treaties with neighbouring countries, to bring them back,” he said.
Addressing RAB’s role in the upcoming national election, Shahedur Rahman said the force would serve as a mobile striking unit alongside other security agencies.
“During the election, police and Ansar will be responsible for security at polling centres, while BGB, army and RAB will operate as mobile striking forces. RAB will carry out its duties accordingly,” he added.
