The British Bangladeshi Social and Cultural Association UK (BBSCA UK) organized a Bangla New Year and Eid Reunion event on June 1 at the Brady Arts Centre in East London.

The first part of the event, chaired by the organization’s president Fakhrul Ambia, was hosted by General Secretary Faizul Islam Faiz Noor and Co-General Secretary Hena Begum.

The cultural part was presented by Cultural Secretary Helen Islam and Co-Cultural Secretary Dhananjay Pal.

The event was held in a lively and festive atmosphere in the presence of a large number of dignitaries, families and children and adolescents from the community.

At the event, floral greetings and honors were presented to 10 British-Bangladeshi councilors who won the recently concluded local elections. The councilors who received the honor were Minara Begum, Jyotsna Islam, Saida Chowdhury, Mehedi Hasan, Waliur Rahman, Shamima Nasrin Tanvi, Abul Mansur and Amina Ali, among others.

The program was addressed by the organization’s advisor Ahbab Hossain, advisor Abul Kalam Azad Choton, advisor Shahed Ali, vice-president Shahin Mostafa, vice-president Hafsa Islam, treasurer Sheikh Nurul Islam, organizing secretary Elin Chowdhury and Hena Begum.

Sunrise Spectrum Bangla Radio TV and Peace Home founder Misbah Jamal, Anupam News Editor Muhib Uddin Chowdhury, Redbridge Community Trust President Mohammad Ahid Uddin, Md. Aminur Rahman Sohel, Syed Sohel Haider, Enam Ahmed, Iqbal Ahmed, Faruk Ahmed, Uday Shankar Durjoy, Shahin Chowdhury, Dewar Noor Chowdhury, Rukon Uddin, Rita Haque, Alamgir Hossain, Enam Uddin, Asru Bairagi, Sonia, Kaberi Mukherjee and many other prominent figures of the community were present at the event.

Sadman Sajid Khan, Abdus Shukur, Syeda Nasima Queen, Ziaur Rahman Saqlain, Nazmul Chowdhury, Mujibul Haque Moni, Mostafa Kamal Milan, child artist Snigdha Roy and Kazi Ayan performed music in the cultural segment of the program.

The festival atmosphere became more lively with the artists’ performances of Bengali songs, modern music and patriotic songs. The audience enjoyed the artists’ performances and encouraged them with applause.

Poetry was recited by Fakhrul Ambia, Hafsa Noor, Jyoti Siddika, Dhananjay Pal and Badal Rahman, among others.

The cultural segment of the program was very diverse and lively. Soma Ganga performed a mesmerizing dance.

The organizers expressed their hope that this gathering, organized around the Bengali New Year and Eid, will play an important role in strengthening Bengali culture, tradition and social harmony abroad.
